UltraViolence (2010)

Sculpture: 16 CRT monitors, 4 channels of video http://vimeo.com/37921066 This piece is a compilation of violent acts used in entertainment. The events are categorized by type of violence to juxtapose the graphic with the comic allowing the viewer to better perceive the act in its true form. The clips are cut to remove any narrative context; in doing so, the illusion of good/bad guy is eliminated destroying the possibility of a just-violence. The duration of the clips and the multitude of screens forces the viewer to react based primarily on instinct in which man's natural compulsion toward violence is revealed.
