Sculpture: 13 CRT monitors, 4 channels of video
An aesthetic exploration of the moment when a CRT television shuts down. The final electrons slow leaving with a splash of color or a envelopment of shapes that only appear for a fraction of a second. This piece has captured and slowed down this moment to allow the viewer to appreciate the symphony that occurs everytime they've ever turned off the television. In NJP I continued my investigation into what compels our attention and how to articulate that imagery through visuals, atmosphere, and audience participation. In Not June Paik I examined the mesmerizing nature of light and the power of subtlety through abstraction. The installation consisted of thirteen CRT televisions stacked on top of one-another playing four channels of video.
